Review - Audio Apocalypse
The Radical Audio Apocalypse have cast their dreamy eyes over our latest EP - here is what they had to say…
“Music can be Serious Business. All that outpouring of emotion, the struggle to be heard and the documentation of man’s real struggles against, like, everything yeah? can be a little frustrating at times. Where a lot of musicians faces can be permanently set to ‘po’, it’s nice to listen to something bright, refreshing, well-crafted and…whisper it…fun.
Pack Xerxes ticks all of these boxes and more. It is a deceptively intricate and multi-layered little package. Opening track Mutiny is a fine example of this; busy, strong and fast-paced music, and an upbeat atmosphere enveloped in lyrics that hold a melancholic tone. Crash Hams is a jerky number with a smooth sing-a-long chorus that you can almost imagine being boomed out over a sun-laden festival field. In Lieu Of A Plan feels as if the kitchen sink has well and truly been thrown at it, yet the song comes out unscathed. Unexpected but bloody well welcome. The EP’s closing track Superstars Of Love conjures up images of an empty, overly loud and expensive nightclub at closing time; all that regret, wasted time and wild goose chases laid bare. The record retains similarities with a number of bands in the current indie scene, but don’t let that put you off. Married To The Sea seem somewhat more earnest and genuine than their would-be contemporaries.”
We are very excited to be invited to play at The Line Of Best Fit night in Liverpool in June. Stealing Sheep and Simian Ghost are both rad, so i think it’ll be a cracker. We’ll post more details of tickets etc nearer the time. Over and Out.
